whispers to the void
i whisper to the void
the things i desire
the mold i want
to fit so perfectly in
the void doesn’t answer
of course
it is nothing
closer to empty space
than my head will ever be
i only whisper
because i doubt
almost everything
good coming my way
if the void whispers back
i’ll only know
my own quiet grief
and contained misery
i long to return to myself
yet my mind wistfully sows
only sorrow and
reverberating uncertainty
i no longer fear
the trenches
of being a burden
but the voiding
of my feelings
the thing that makes me feel
most full and most null
i’m so bitter at myself
wondering how
i can cancel out
the back and forth
noise of my thoughts
i finally shout
into the void
“let me out!”
and suddenly i am overjoyed
my words reach me
louder than ever
and i am free
my voice of reason?
me
